How We Met

How We Met

We met at Carat in the summer of 2005 soon after Roopa started. We were first introduced at the company summer outing and soon we were talking over AIM at work ALL DAY. It was a little difficult to get anything done for a couple of weeks because of how much we made each other laugh. We hung out a few times and really hit it off although for a while neither of us was sure if the other person really liked them or were just being nice. Soon enough, we found ourselves on our first official date.

It was Friday September 2nd and the Red Sox were in town playing the Orioles. Forrest invited Roopa to the game even though he didn’t have tickets and the game was sold out. As luck would have it, he hit the Red Sox website at 1 o’clock and actually got tickets for the game that night; which any fan knows never happens. We think it was fate’s way of saying, “You’ve got a good thing going, don’t screw it up,” because we got seats about 15 rows behind home plate! The Sox lost that night but for us it was just the start of the rest of our lives together.

The Engagement

The Engagement

We were engaged on March 23rd, 2008. It was Easter Sunday and we had plans to visit Forrest’s family at his father’s house for dinner. We had been talking about getting engaged for some time but since Roopa’s birthday, Valentine’s Day and a trip to Mexico had come and gone, a proposal didn’t seem likely. What Roopa didn’t know was that Forrest had bought the ring several weeks earlier, asked Kim’s permission in Mexico and was just waiting for the perfect moment. As we were getting ready to leave, Roopa walked into the living room and found Forrest waiting on one knee with the ring. Barely giving him any time to even say the four words every woman wants to hear, Roopa burst into tears and said yes.
